A Curiosity Reset - part 1
Looking up
The beautiful, playful work of the sun
and the shadows cast by the city wall
was what caught her attention that day.
Only later, at home,
she noticed the second shadow on the wall.
The three blue shutters.
The shadow running almost precisely
along the edge of one
at that particular hour of the day.
Two shutters were closed,
not really revealing anything.
She wondered if they ever opened at all.
Was someone living there?
Was it storage?
Was there a room behind them
she never knew existed?
The rest of the building seemed to help
keep the mystery.
Every day on her walk into town
she had passed this place.
Months that had turned into years.
She had never noticed the shadow like this.
She had never questioned the shutters.
Or the mystery behind them.
And yet, there they had been all along.
Sometimes,
looking just a little differently
doesn’t reveal an answer.
It simply makes you wonder.
It makes you aware of your environment.
it roots you in the now.
Shadows cast a light
on closed observers
questions remain
become a curious observer
