Something about wide, open views felt…

As long as she could remember,

there was something about wide, open views that felt…
calming,
inviting,
liberating.

Standing still and observing,
sketching subtle lines onto paper,
capturing only the essence.

The gentle shades of ochre.
It didn’t matter
whether she was gazing across the valley
or watching the painting slowly emerge beneath her brush.

Something deep within her shifted.
Her mind grew quiet.
Her body seemed to disappear.
Her energy merged with what simply was.

The buzzard gliding high above,
the ancient rock carrying the village,
or a sigh
drifting from behind an open window.

And for a little while,
there was no longer
an observer and something to observe.

There just ‘was’

“The buzzard circles.
The paper grows quiet.
I forget myself”
